St Marks Players

The Reigate based amateur dramatic society, the St Marks Players, have their Christmas production coming shortly. "The Inaccurate Conception" is a comedy about a school nativity play.

Philip Grant spoke to Christine Knox and Peter Jackson about the play.

It's being performed on Thursday and Friday, 28, 29 November.

Self Employment Free Course

Have you ever wanted to work for yourself? Take the plunge and go self employed?
It's a daunting prospect and where do you start?

The housing association, Optivo, are running a free course in self employment in Redhill later this month. Tess Lewsey spoke to Rhys Williams the Project Officer to find out more.

If you're interested, it's taking place at Christ's Central in London Road, Redhill from 18 - 22 November between 10am and 3pm.

Alexandra Phillips MEP

Green issues and the environment are very much in the news.

We had the latest demonstrations by Extinction Rebellion recently as they try to raise awareness of what they say is a climate crisis.

Alexandra Phillips is a Green Party Member of the European Parliament for the South East England.

She was elected in the European Parliament elections in May 2019.

She recently visited Redhill and spoke to Philip Grant about being an EMP, her views on Extinction Rebellion and the "Green New Deal".

Downs Syndrome charity and film screening

PSDS is a local charity supporting young people who have Downs Syndrome reach their full potential.

PSDS stands for "Providing Support for Children with Downs Syndrome" and Helen Sheirs is the co-founder of the charity.

Philip Grant recently spoke to her about the charity and also a one-off screening of a new film called "The Peanut Butter Falcon" at the Leatherhead Theatre.

The film features a young man called Zack Gottsagen making his acting debut. Zack just happens to have Downs Syndrome.

When and Where.
The film is being screened at Leatherhead Theatre on Monday 28 October at 7.30pm. (Doors and bar open at 6pm).

Include Choir

The Include Project's vision is to make sure everyone is 'included through the right communication'

They provide community projects, training and consultancy combining music, creativity and fun – to teach people better ways of including and involving people with understanding or speaking difficulties.

To Include someone is to unlock their potential and we guarantee you’ll be surprised at what people can achieve.

Babyloss Awareness Week

The death of a baby is not a rare event.
It can happen to any one.

Babyloss Awareness Week aims to raise awareness about pregnancy and baby death in the UK. 

This special week is also a collaboration between charities and organisations working together for change and tangible improvements in policy - research - bereavement care - and support available for anyone affected by the death of a baby at any stage.

Tess Lewsey spoke to Alison and Sam about Babyloss Awareness Week and the event 'Wave of Light'.

Engine Shed

The Engine Shed is a special interest group for autistic children and young people who like trains.

They can design and play with our huge Brio, Tomy and Hornby train sets in an inclusive, safe and relaxing environment.

The children are in charge. They design and run the Brio, Tomy and Hornby trains, with minimal supervision from the Engine Shed staff.
25 children regularly attend Engine Shed sessions and they are engaged and focused throughout the 2-hour session.
